The Social Health Authority (SHA) has implemented significant changes to its authorization process, effective today, with Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announcing the discontinuation of OTP based approvals.

• All approvals will now be completed using either a biometric health ID or the new Practice 360 app.
• Biometric registration is currently live in all Level 4, 5, and 6 health facilities across Kenya, with plans to expand to Level 3 and 2 facilities.
• The new system aims to eliminate physical documents for patients, facilitate easier management of approvals by healthcare workers via the Practice 360 app, and combat fraudulent activities within the country's health insurance program.
