Thalia Psychotherapy, a Kenyan digital mental health startup, has secured investment from the Health Innovation Exchange (HiEx) to significantly expand mental health services across Africa.

• HiEx, backed by the Reckitt Catalyst initiative, is Thalia’s second institutional investor.
• Thalia has screened over 2.7 million individuals, built a network of over 6,000 trained therapists, and integrated services into more than 4,000 health facilities in six African countries.
• The investment aims to scale operations, focusing on employer programs, government partnerships, and direct-to-patient services, leveraging AI-powered diagnostics and teletherapy to reach underserved communities.
• Thalia’s unique strategy involves engaging African pension funds in long-term, results-based health financing, aiming for both economic and health returns.
• This investment follows Thalia’s win of the Africa HealthTech Grand Prize at VivaTech and its listing among Bloomberg’s “Startups to Watch” in 2024.
