KNUT Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, has urged teachers to support the newly signed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 2025-2029, emphasizing that the union can seek further amendments before 2029.

• The CBA encompasses a Ksh33 billion deal, with some teachers set to receive up to a 29.6 percent salary increase.
• The highest job group (D5) will earn up to Ksh167,415, representing a five percent increase, while the lowest-paid teachers will see their pay rise from around Ksh23,000 to about Ksh29,000.
• Oyuu confirmed that no gazetted hardship areas will be declassified, and advocated for the gazettement of more, while also urging lawmakers to reject bills that aim to scrap free basic education.
