The Senate Labour Committee has officially summoned three Cabinet Secretaries and the Kenya Railways Corporation Managing Director after they failed to attend a scheduled meeting to discuss critical national matters, including pension issues for Kenya Railways retirees.

• The summoned officials are CS for National Treasury John Mbadi, CS for Cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya, CS for Labour Alfred Mutua, and Kenya Railways Corporation MD Philip Mainga.
• They are expected to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10am at the County Hall Mini Chamber.
• Key issues to be addressed include one-off honorariums for former councillors, delayed pensions for Kenya Railways pensioners, and matters from the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) petition.
