The High Court has temporarily blocked the swearing-in of the re-appointed chairman of the Media Council of Kenya, Maina Muiruri, and three other board members, delivering a blow to ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo.

• A conservatory order was issued on Tuesday, August 5, restraining Joseph Maina Muiruri, Susan Karago, Timothy Wanyonyi Chetambe, and Tabitha Mutemi from taking office.
• The orders stem from a legal challenge by three petitioners who argued that Kabogo made the appointments before a selection panel completed its process.
• Justice Bahati Mwamuye issued the temporary orders pending an inter partes hearing and determination of the petitioners' application dated 04/08/2025.
