Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has suspended 40 hospitals from the Social Health Authority (SHA) programme due to fraudulent practices. The Ministry will publish the names of these facilities in a Gazette Notice after investigations by the DCI.

• CS Duale stated that the suspension will remain until compliance with SHA regulations, and any fraudulently paid money will be recovered.
• The schemes involved multiple billing and classifying outpatients as inpatients to inflate service costs.
• Eight doctors from Nairobi, Bungoma, and Kilifi counties, and four clinicians from Nairobi and Homa Bay Counties, have also been suspended for direct involvement.
• User rights for suspended doctors and clinical officers have been withdrawn from all authority and digital health platforms.
