KURA Issues Update on Construction of Two 'Expressways' Within CBD

The project aims to ease traffic flow in the city...
✨ Key Highlights
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is constructing two viaducts in Nairobi CBD, similar to expressways, to improve traffic flow, especially between the CBD and Upper Hill.
- One viaduct will run from Integrity Centre to land near the Serena Hotel along Valley Road, and the second from Milimani Law Courts to the National Library area along Ngong Road.
- Assistant Director Benjamin Asin from KURA stated these viaducts are part of broader construction works, including the Valley Road–Kenyatta Ave/Ngong/Nyerere Interchange and the Upper Hill–Haile Selassie Overpass.
- KURA is also adding expanded walkways, cycling tracks, and streetlights between the CBD and Upper Hill, and has started constructing a four-lane flyover at the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road junction near Junction Mall, expected to be complete by July 2027.
