The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association of Kenya (LODDCA) has urged truck drivers to suspend travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) due to a surge in insecurity along the Trans-African highway in the Mahiga area. This follows recent attacks on drivers, including an incident where attackers pelted a fuel trailer with stones.
- LODDCA advised drivers to halt trips until security improves along the Goli–Mahagi–Bunia Road connecting Uganda and the DRC.
- The association reported that drivers have been attacked "in the last 2 months" by assailants.
- This warning comes after the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) also cautioned drivers against using the Nimule-Juba highway in South Sudan after 4 pm due to insecurity, following consultations with the South Sudanese government.
