At the 8th Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) National Science and Technology Exhibition, students Kon Lual Ajok and Ian Mwadiloh from Nova Pioneer Boys High School, Eldoret, won the overall prize for their blockchain-powered project, Afronomy Chain. This web system tracks public funds to combat corruption and earned them a scholarship, cash, and an international trip.
- Over 130 student-led STEM projects were submitted from across the country.
- The winners received a four-year university scholarship at Strathmore University, Sh100,000 in cash, mobile phones, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Dublin, Ireland, in 2026.
- Barani Secondary School’s Angela Debra and Ferdinand Emmanuel were overall runners-up with their smart solar-jiko powered water distiller.
- The exhibition theme was “Using STEM to Drive Towards a Sustainable Future,” bringing together over 1,000 students from all 47 counties.
- ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui reaffirmed government support for young innovators.
