Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has assured the National Assembly's Energy Committee that the privatisation of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) will not result in mass job losses. This comes after the Cabinet approved privatising KPC to boost its performance and market value.

• The government intends to retain a 35 per cent stake in KPC, offering 65 per cent of shares to the public via the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
• MPs raised concerns about the fate of KPC employees and questioned the decision to sell a majority stake in the strategic national asset.
• The committee criticized the Treasury for an opaque process, demanding that a comprehensive valuation report of KPC be made public.
