China has confirmed importing 54 tonnes of macadamia nuts from Kenya, despite a ban on raw macadamia exports announced by the Kenyan government. This has led to questions and concerns among Kenyans given the conflicting reports.

• 54 tonnes of macadamia nuts arrived in Hunan Province, China, after a 30-day journey. Total imports are expected to reach 2,000 tonnes this year.
• Director-General of the Department of African Affairs at China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Du Xiaohui, announced the import, welcoming Kenyan products to the Chinese market.
• Kenya's Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), on July 18, prohibited raw macadamia nut exports to protect local processing industries and create jobs.
