The Environment and Land Court (ELC) has significantly restricted KENHA's plan to use Karura Forest land for the Kiambu Road expansion. The ruling, revealed by the Green Belt Movement (GBM), drastically cut the initially proposed land acquisition.

• The ELC ruled that only 0.1233 hectares of Karura Forest can be used for expansion, a sharp reduction from KENHA's requested 51.64 hectares.
• The Green Belt Movement (GBM), a conservation group, spearheaded the opposition to the expansion, which had been licensed by the Kenya Forest Services (KFS).
• The court also revoked two special user licences issued by KFS due to a lack of public participation, following a temporary injunction issued in December 2024.
