Former Siaya County Assembly clerk, Felix Olwero, was tragically killed by police in a case of mistaken identity at his rural home in Seme, Kisumu, after responding to a burglary at his bar.

• Olwero was mistakenly identified as a burglar by officers who found him with a machete while patrolling his bar at Alwala center.
• The incident occurred at midnight after Olwero had called the police regarding the burglary but proceeded to the scene with neighbors when officers delayed.
• Olwero had been ejected from his job in 2024 over allegations of misappropriation of funds, with his lawsuit challenging his dismissal dismissed in June.
