Consolata Nabwire Wakwabubi was sworn in as a nominated senator, replacing Gloria Orwoba who was expelled from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for alleged disloyalty. The oath of office was administered by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi during a special sitting on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

• Wakwabubi's nomination by UDA was gazetted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after her predecessor's ouster challenge was dismissed.
• She is a known grassroots mobiliser in Kimilili Constituency and Bungoma County, and a staunch UDA loyalist.
• Her swearing-in allowed her immediate participation in impeachment proceedings against Kericho Governor Erick Mutai.
