The Kenyan government has announced an immediate change to its payroll processing deadlines for all public service entities, extending the monthly closure date by four days to the 18th of every month. This adjustment, previously set at the 15th, aims to enhance efficiency and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions.

• The new deadline of the 18th of each month applies to all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, County Governments, State Corporations, and Constitutional Commissions.
• The directive was issued by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, and shared with various principal secretaries and accounting officers.
• The change is intended to facilitate timely submission of exchequer requests to the National Treasury by the 20th of every month and ensure prompt payment of deductions like PAYE, NSSF, and HELB.
