Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi has scheduled three special sittings for August 27, 28, and 29 to conduct the impeachment trial of Kericho Governor Erick Mutai. The impeachment charges, brought by the Kericho County Assembly, will be heard by the full Senate after a motion to form a special committee failed.

• Among the accusations against Governor Mutai are alleged misappropriation of Kshs. 85.7 million for undelivered goods and inflated supplies, including sodas at Kshs. 500 per bottle.
• He faces charges of mishandling over Kshs. 9 million raised for Londiani accident victims and alleged nepotism, including hiring his brother as a revenue clerk.
• A court ordered Governor Mutai to personally pay Kshs. 2 million in costs related to an unlawful County Attorney appointment.
