President William Ruto has issued a directive to Kenyans to refuse payment requests at dispensaries and healthcare centres, emphasizing that primary healthcare services are free under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative. This comes as part of reforms by the newly formed Social Health Authority (SHA).

• Primary healthcare services, including consultations, diagnostics, and medications, are completely free for registered members under SHA.
• The directive was conveyed by head of Presidential Special Projects & Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi.
• Health CS Aden Duale previously warned that attempts to charge for services should be reported via *147#, and 773 hospitals have been suspended so far for non-compliance.
