The Kenya Sugar Board (KSB) has launched a nationwide crackdown on the illegal sale and supply of sugar, targeting both small-scale shops and large supermarkets. This operation, initiated on Wednesday, August 27, aims to enforce sugar regulations and prevent the distribution of illicit sugar across the country.

• The crackdown is authorized by the Sugar Act number 11 of 2024, with investigations and analysis already underway for seized goods.
• This initiative follows the recent seizure of 676 bags of counterfeit sugar, valued at approximately Ksh10 million, by the Anti-Counterfeit Authority on Thursday, August 21, near Malindi, leading to eight arrests.
