Ugandan security officers have arrested 24 fishermen from Ringiti Island beach in Suba West, Homa Bay County, and impounded six boats over alleged trespass into Ugandan waters on Lake Victoria.

• Three boats were seized on Wednesday night and three more on Thursday morning, sparking tension among the fishermen.
• According to Barnabas Odhiambo, chairperson of the Ringiti Island Beach Management Unit, the fishermen and boats were taken to Lolwe Island in Uganda.
• Ugandan officers allegedly demand Ksh.50,000 to release a boat and between Ksh.10,000 to release a person.
