President William Ruto announced the Kenyan government will begin paying Social Health Authority (SHA) contributions for citizens unable to afford them, following a successful identification process to ensure universal health coverage. The initiative aims to rectify the inequities of the former National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

• The SHA has registered 25.8 million Kenyans, significantly more than the defunct NHIF's seven million members.
• President Ruto stated Kenya's economy has improved, with inflation dropping from 9.6 per cent to 4 per cent, and the shilling stabilizing at KSh129 to the dollar from KSh167. Foreign exchange reserves increased from $5.7 billion to $11.8 billion.
• The NYOTA business support programme, launching on September 18, 2025, will benefit 100,000 young small business owners across 1,450 wards.
