The Kenyan government has initiated a fresh wave of unemployment by dissolving 54 companies with immediate effect, as announced by the Deputy Registrar of Companies Hiram Gachugi in a gazette notice dated Friday, August 29.

• A majority of the immediately dissolved companies operate in sectors such as survey, fast food and hospitality, medical services, and building and construction.
• The Registrar of Companies may dissolve firms for reasons including dormancy, consistent failure to file annual returns, or voluntary application by the owner.
• Additionally, Hiram Gachugi announced the government's intention to close an additional 67 firms within the next three months, giving them a 90-day window to show cause against deregistration.
