Mombasa has won a prestigious international award and a $50,000 (approx. Ksh 6.5 million) cash prize for its successful road safety campaign. The city was recognized as a bronze winner in the inaugural Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety Speed Challenge for its efforts to reduce speeding and save lives.
