The members have collected 70 signatures to table a motion and are nearing the required threshold. Despite the political pressure, Sakaja has received surprise public backing from Irungu Nyakera, an ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Concurrently, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna announced a new effort to oust Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale by urging Members of Parliament to collect signatures. Sifuna's plan is a reaction to allegations of widespread fraud and misappropriation of funds within the Social Health Authority (SHA).
