The High Court has denied Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok's request to halt his arrest and arraignment over corruption allegations, arguing the case is malicious. This decision comes as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) confirmed it has summoned Governor Barchok and former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati for prosecution after consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

• Governor Barchok is accused of a conflict of interest involving Chemasus Construction Limited, linked to his associate Evans Kipkoech Korir.
• Former Bungoma Governor Wangamati faces allegations of siphoning public funds through a network of companies registered under family members and associates, including Skyman Freighters Ltd and Nabwala Construction Ltd.
• Summonses require the suspects to appear at the EACC Headquarters—Integrity Centre, Nairobi on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. for processing and arraignment.
