Following President William Ruto's challenge to his detractors, Kenya's county governors have openly rejected the push to adopt the Electronic Government Procurement (eGP) system.

• The governors, led by Chairperson of the Council of Governors, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, accused the National Treasury of sidelining them in the system's rollout and dismissed claims they were blocking reforms.
• They highlighted persistent flaws in the existing Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), warning similar issues could recur with eGP.
• The governors called for the Treasury to withdraw the circular mandating county implementation of eGP until proper consultations, legal alignment, and capacity-building are undertaken, citing that only three counties took part in its pilot.
