A university dropout accused of cyber fraud against a betting company has been released on cash bail. Seth Mwabe Okwanyo was granted a Ksh 1 million bond or Ksh 500,000 cash bail by a Nairobi court after being accused of stealing Ksh 11.4 million.

• The cybersecurity consultant claims he was testing software and money unintentionally ended up in his account.
• Okwanyo was arrested on August 30, 2025, at a Tatu City apartment by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
• Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi warned Okwanyo not to interfere with the ongoing investigation.
