The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has voiced strong opposition to the recent transfer of teachers from Nairobi, warning that this move could severely impact national examination results. They urge the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to revoke the "punitive" delocalisation letters issued to educators.

• KNUT contends that the delocalisation of teachers, particularly long-serving ones, from Nairobi to regions like Kitui, will lead to poor performance in upcoming national examinations.
• Nyamai Kasina, KNUT Nairobi Branch Chair, described the delocalisation as "punitive and inhumane," confirming that some teachers have already received relocation letters.
• Macharia Mugo, KNUT Nairobi Branch Secretary General, called on TSC to immediately withdraw the delocalisation letters and instead promote long-serving teachers to improve the education ecosystem in the capital.
• The union also warned against political interference in teacher employment and promotion, with Malel Lang’at, KNUT National Chairperson, urging new TSC CEO Evaleen Mitei to eliminate such malpractice.
