After nearly three weeks of closure due to severe cash flow issues, St. Mary’s Hospital in Mumias, Kakamega, is set to reopen following a deal struck with the government. Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale confirmed that the government is settling outstanding debts owed to the facility.

• The government, through SHA, has disbursed Ksh.98 million to St. Mary's Hospital since December 2024.
• Health CS Aden Duale and Kakamega Catholic Bishop Joseph Obayi confirmed that Ksh.35 million is still pending from SHA to clear workers' arrears.
• The hospital's administration states that Ksh.140 million is still owed from the defunct NHIF.
• Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa indicated that Kakamega County has total pending bills of Ksh.250 million for SHA.
