Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has praised Kakamega Catholic Bishop Joseph Obanyi for confirming that the Social Health Authority (SHA) disbursed payments to St. Mary’s Mission Hospital, Mumias, clarifying a contentious issue.

• Bishop Obanyi confirmed receiving Ksh9 million specifically for the renal unit, while Mudavadi had initially stated SHA records showed Ksh98 million in reimbursements to St. Mary's between December 2024 and August 2025.
• Health CS Aden Duale visited the hospital on September 3, confirming SHA had paid Ksh98 million in pending bills and an additional Ksh14 million was forthcoming, with Bishop Obanyi noting Ksh34 million would clear salary arrears.
• Mudavadi criticized those who politicized the hospital's funding issues, commending Bishop Obanyi's integrity in addressing the matter.
