The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has issued an alert for visitors to Karura Forest after an alleged python sighting. Although the sighting and circulating photo are unauthenticated, KFS is urging caution and adherence to designated paths.

• KFS advises visitors to only use designated paths and immediately report any sightings to KFS Forest Rangers.
• The alleged python was reportedly spotted near the Lily Lake area within the forest.
• While the current sighting is unconfirmed, pythons have been sighted in Karura Forest in previous years (2019 and 2022).
• Friends of Karura, a community association, previously stated that the African rock python found in the forest is non-venomous and harmless unless provoked.
