The Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) 2025 in Dakar has issued urgent calls for systemic reforms to African agriculture, alongside the release of the Africa Food Systems Report (AFSR) 2025. Despite agricultural output growing by 4.3 percent annual growth since 2000, hunger and malnutrition are rising, with over 300 million people undernourished in 2023.

• One in three African children under five remains stunted, and roughly 30 percent of food is lost post-harvest due to poor infrastructure.
• The report highlights that less than 5 percent of commercial bank lending in Africa goes to agriculture.
