African agriculture is being revolutionized by the launch of the Africa Digital Crop Variety Catalogue, a multi-country, open-access platform designed to empower farmers and address food insecurity. This initiative aims to combat issues like poor harvests, climate change, and nutritional deficiencies by providing data-driven insights into seed varieties.

• The Africa Digital Crop Variety Catalogue covers Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
• Developed by AGRA in partnership with national governments, researchers, and regulators, the catalogue was launched in June 2025.
• The platform provides information on ecological suitability, drought tolerance, nutrient content, and pest resistance for various crop varieties, transforming seed selection for farmers and informing policy.
