Rising basketball coach Rose Mshila, 29, defies conventional height requirements in the sport, proving that dedication and hard work are key to success. Despite her pint-sized stature, she has secured a promising future in coaching, now serving as the assistant coach for Nairobi City Thunder and the head coach for the girls’ Under-16 national team.
- Rose Mshila started her coaching journey volunteering for Soweto Sports Initiative and later through the Deep Coaching Program at Far East Basketball Association (FEBA).
- Her first paid coaching job was at Rosslyn Academy, Nairobi towards the end of 2020, offered by Nairobi City Thunder coach Brad Ibs.
- She founded Men’s Division One side Clique Mamba with young boys from Kayole, inspired by Kobe Bryant.
- In 2023, Mshila joined Twente Sports as Skills and Development coach for Thunder, eventually being promoted to assistant coach.
