Kenya has significantly improved its global standing by climbing five places to 58th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025, entering the top 100 business-friendly nations for the first time. The same index recognized Nairobi and Mombasa as the country's leading startup hubs. In 2024, Kenya topped Africa's startup funding, successfully raising Sh82.3 billion ($638 million). In a related development supporting small enterprises, the National Treasury and the Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) have disbursed Sh2.625 billion over the past year. This funding was distributed to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Supporting Access to Finance and Enterprise Recovery (SAFER) Project.
