The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has withdrawn from the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election, endorsing the Democratic Party’s candidate for the November 27 polls. This decision, announced by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, aims to foster stronger relations within the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

• The DCP Mbeere North candidate previously defected to Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi party.
• The Mbeere North seat became vacant after Geoffrey Ruku resigned to head the Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development in March.
• The DCP will support the Wiper Party candidate for Muguuni Ward in Machakos County and the DAP-K candidate in Kapchai/Chwele ward in Bungoma County.
• However, DCP will remain in the Malava race, fielding Edgar Busiega against DAP-K’s Seth Panyako, creating an intense contest.
