Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo has clarified she is not working for the government despite her appointment as Vice Chairperson of the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Riots, following public debate that she might betray justice amid human rights concerns during protests.

• Odhiambo stated her commitment is to uphold the rule of law and serve the people of Kenya, confirming she has not held any meetings with the panel.
• The High Court in Kerugoya temporarily halted the implementation of President William Ruto's directive to establish the compensation framework, suspending Gazette Notice No. 12002 of August 25, 2025.
• The 18-member committee, which also includes Amnesty International Kenya Executive Director Irũngũ Houghton, was tasked with compensating victims dating back to 2017.
