Jepkosgei Chemoiwa from Baringo County has been named Africa's Best Teacher by the African Union (AU) Continental Teacher Prize, an award recognising innovative and committed educators.

• Chemoiwa, a teacher of Mathematics and Physics at Emining Boys High School, won the award for her critical role in championing online learning during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
• She was nominated by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and will formally receive the award next month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
• Her colleagues at Emining Boys High School commended her dedication, stating she has been a teacher for 15 years after graduating from Egerton University.
