Kenya is projected to achieve a record-breaking 70 million bags of maize harvest in 2025, a significant increase from 2024's 67 million bags and more than double the 34.3 million bags in 2022. This bumper harvest is attributed to the government's Fertilizer Subsidy Programme, which has boosted agricultural production and national food security.

• CS Mutahi Kagwe announced plans to restock the National Strategic Food Reserve by directly purchasing maize from farmers, ensuring both national food security and market stability.
• The Fertilizer Subsidy Programme has delivered 21.3 million bags of fertilizer worth Kshs. 53.25 billion, saving farmers approximately Ksh. 105 billion and reducing fertilizer prices by up to 67% per 50kg bag.
• The government plans to scale up fertilizer distribution to 12.5 million subsidized bags in 2026, covering all 1,450 wards nationwide, while also promoting sustainable, climate-smart agriculture and adherence to global standards like the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
