The Kenyan Ministry of Transport has announced significant upgrades to traffic laws enforcement and infrastructure, including the expansion of four major highways and the construction of 13 new footbridges. These changes are part of a five-year National Road Safety Action Plan aimed at curbing prevalent road crashes.
- The plan includes the dualling of Kwa Jomvu-Mariakani, capacity enhancement of Nyali-Mtwapa-Kilifi, and upgrading of Kitale-Morpus and Rironi-Mau Summit roads.
- The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will implement reforms affecting how they deal with non-compliant motorists, including automated speed enforcement using smart cameras.
