The Social Health Authority (SHA) will introduce an AI-powered clinical support tool by 2026 to prevent doctors from issuing harmful prescriptions, as announced by CEO Mercy Mwangangi. This initiative aims to safeguard patient well-being by automatically rejecting inappropriate medications.

• The tool will utilize patient data from the Afya Yangu portal to identify and reject prescriptions that could cause harm, such as allergic reactions.
• Mercy Mwangangi, CEO of SHA, stated the tool will be launched by the Ministry of Health.
• In addition to the AI tool, SHA plans to launch free ambulance services by the end of October 2025, with costs of Ksh4,500 per ambulance ride covered by SHA for the first 24 hours of emergency care.
