The Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi has granted the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) a 30-day extension to provide disclosure materials in the graft case against Bomet Governor Hillary Kipng’eno Barchok and co-accused. The prosecution, through the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), requested additional time to prepare the documents, which must be supplied in hard copy.

• The accused, including Governor Barchok, businessman Evans Kipkoech Korir, and Chemasus Construction Limited, have pleaded not guilty to charges under the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2009.
• Charges include money laundering, conflict of interest, and acquisition and use of proceeds of crime.
• The case involves an alleged transfer of Ksh.2 million from Chemasus Construction Limited's Equity Bank account to Governor Barchok’s account on or about March 10, 2021, to conceal the source of funds.
• The case will be mentioned on October 28 for further directions.
