The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has raided offices and residences of senior Garissa County officials as part of an investigation into alleged irregular contract awards totaling Ksh.1.2 billion. The probe centers on procurement irregularities and claims of payments to ghost workers.

• The investigation concerns alleged irregularities in projects including the construction of a terminal wing at Garissa Airstrip and a perimeter wall at Garissa Primary School, alongside procurement of medical insurance and catering services, and payments to ghost workers.
• Four officials were targeted in the Wednesday operation, including Head of County Treasury Abdi Ali Nuriye, Chief Finance Officer Mohamed Daud Korow, Director of Supply Chain Management Mohamed Abdi Hassan, and former Director of Procurement Abdiwahab Omar Guye.
• Earlier this month, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama Adan appeared before the EACC for questioning regarding the mismanagement of Ksh.1.2 billion and alleged irregular recruitment, including Ksh.700 million in salaries paid to ghost workers.
