Africa's streaming market is experiencing rapid growth with over 560 platforms, though foreign content and services still largely dominate the landscape, according to a new report by Fabric News. While local production is increasing, challenges remain in achieving content parity with global offerings.

Netflix is the market leader, available in all 60 African countries, with Prime Video also having near-continent-wide availability.
Out of 60,000 unique titles available to African viewers, a mere 2% are local productions, while 97% originate from foreign sources.
Egypt leads in local streaming productions with 449 titles, closely followed by Nigeria with 447, and South Africa contributing 175.
Drama is the most popular genre across all content types, with thrillers and documentaries prevalent in foreign and co-produced titles, and comedy strong among African local productions.
