The Office of the Controller of Budget (CoB) has admitted to an error in its latest report, mistakenly indicating that Homa Bay County was operating unauthorized bank accounts. The Controller of Budget, Margaret Nyakang'o, acknowledged the inaccuracy and committed to correcting it in a revised edition of the Annual CGBIRR for 2024/25.

The initial report stated Homa Bay County had 584 bank accounts; the corrected figure is 272.
The error was due to the inclusion of 284 Level 1 community health units which do not maintain bank accounts.
The corrected data shows Homa Bay County operates 272 bank accounts, including 207 for Level 2 and 3 facilities, and 35 for vocational centres.
