Thousands gathered in Arizona for a memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead on September 10. US President Donald Trump hailed Kirk as a “great American hero” and a martyr, with his wife, Erika Kirk, tearfully announcing she had forgiven his alleged killer.

Over tens of thousands attended the event at State Farm Stadium near Phoenix, with nearly 100,000 inside.
President Trump was the headline speaker, joined by high-ranking administration officials including Vice-President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk's wife, has been named the new CEO of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by her husband at age 18.
