In a deadly ambush in north-central Nigeria, gunmen killed at least 11 security personnel on Sunday. This incident escalates farmer-herder conflicts that have plagued the region.

Ten police officers and one civil protection guard were killed, with one civil protection guard still missing.
The attack occurred in the Katsina-Ala local government area during a joint operation by police and the Benue State Civil Protection Guards.
The attackers, suspected armed herdsmen supported by local gangs, also set fire to two patrol vehicles.
