The World Bank Group and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) have partnered on "Mission 300," an ambitious initiative to provide 300 million people in Africa with electricity access by 2030. This mission, launched during the World Bank spring meetings in 2024, combines infrastructure investments with policy reforms to address the continent's significant energy deficit.
- 600 million Africans (83 percent of the global electricity access deficit) currently lack electricity.
