Police in Kisumu have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of Ksh3 million worth of energy equipment from the Manyatta Kona Maji area. The suspects allegedly received the stolen items from vandals and resold them for illegal electricity connections.

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) security team collaborated with law enforcement in the arrests.
Stolen items include steady bars, crossarm channels, stay wire, insulators, and conductors.
According to security service manager Geoffrey Kigen, vandalism frequently causes power disruptions.
The Energy Act 2018 imposes a Ksh5 million fine or a five-year prison sentence for tampering with electricity infrastructure.
This follows a western region case where a man received a six-year jail term or a Ksh10.2 million fine for similar offenses.
