Parents at Gatunguru Boys High School in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, stormed the school after being demanded an additional Ksh25,000 per student to repair dormitories burnt on September 7. This levy is in addition to outstanding fees, causing distress among parents who highlight financial struggles and disrupted learning for students, especially those in Form Four preparing for exams.

• The school administration initially requested Ksh50,000, which was reduced to Ksh25,000 after an assessment by the Department of Public Works.
• Peter Macharia, the Board Chairperson, defended the amount, stating the priority is to re-accommodate students before the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
• The fire completely destroyed the dormitories, leading to a two-week disruption in learning before this payment demand.
