The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a senior Busia Land official for allegedly demanding and receiving a Ksh10,000 bribe, referred to as “release fees,” to hand over a processed title deed.

• The official was nabbed on Tuesday afternoon following weeks of investigations due to multiple complaints from Busia residents.
• The EACC stated the culprit routinely withheld processed title deeds to demand bribes.
• This arrest is part of the EACC’s ongoing crackdown on bribery in public service offices nationwide.
• In a separate but related incident on August 7, the EACC also raided six senior Busia County officials’ offices and residences in a Ksh1.4 billion tender probe.
